winLAME 2010 beta 1
winLAME is an audio encoder for Windows with a graphical interface. It supports various audio formats such as MP3, OGG, AAC, WAV, AIF, AU, VOC, WMA or FLAC (via FLAC library).
The LAME encoder is the most popular MP3 encoder on the market, and this software offers a graphical interface for it. The interface is really simple, structured in a wizard manner: audio files are added to a playlist (drag and drop is supported), the output module and output settings are adjusted, then some presets for the chosen output module and then the conversion process can start.
From the output settings, the user can choose to delete the original files after encoding, to overwrite existing files, to exit the software or shutdown computer after the encoding is done or to create output playlist.
Other features include: CD ripping with FreeDB support, ID3 v1 and v2 tagging, batch processing, high quality and optimized MP3 encoding, nogap encoding of continuous-mix-cd's, optimized 3DNow! and SSE routines, etc. On top of all these, it's free.
